Losing Our Autonomy: The TSA

Posted by courage On November - 28 - 2010

What will it take for Americans to finally stand up in mass and say NO?  Continually our freedoms are being eroded through a government which stretches its web of control tighter, squeezing the blood of liberty from the veins of the populace.

The government believes us to be sheeple and perhaps we are; blinded by their claims of false security, at the expense of   our individual autonomy.  The abdication of autonomy comes in small incremental steps, with statements made by individuals who fail to connect the dots to the larger picture of freedom.  With the Patriot Act common declarations were, “ I have nothing to worry about, I’m not a terrorist” or “anything they want to do to make us safe, is okay with me.”

LAS VEGAS – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, seeking to console liberal activists who were disappointed by the final version of the national health care law, assured them that there would eventually be a public option.

“We’re going to have a public option,” Reid said. “It’s just a question of when.”

Is this a surprise to anyone?  And it only gets better (from a progressive standpoint,) worse if you are a freedom loving American.  Reid as well as most Democrats continually sing the mantra that Social Security is “not broke.”  A classic case of progressives altering the meaning of commonly held words to suit their twisted ideology.  Anyone paying the slightest bit of attention knows the federal government has been pillaging the “trust” fund for decades to pay for other budget items/programs.

During a question and answer session, Reid also argued against “fear tactics of those who say Social Security is going broke. It’s not.”

“Social Security is the most successful social program in the history of the world,” he said.

My own infamous Representative Pete-I-love-Pork-Visclosky has made the same exact statement during town hall forums.  There must be a Democratic handbook which offers these buffoons talking points in order to bamboozle the American people.  What the Democrats refuse to acknowledge is that social security is hemorrhaging for the first time this year.

A report from the Congressional Budget Office shows that for the first time in 25 years, Social Security is taking in less in taxes than it is spending on benefits.

I’m thinking many of you had already heard that concerning news.

The money, according to the Congressional Budget Office, will completely run out in 2039.  Allow me to remind you that the CBO  inherently under-reports cost analysis of government programs. When projecting future economic trends the CBO adjusts numbers based on the assumption of growth in the economy including increases in the workforce, increased taxation, and uses other variables none of which are based in concrete facts.

In 2005, for example, CBO projected that Medicare would cost $1.5 trillion in 2050. Two years later, in 2007, the same CBO projected that this cost would reach $2.8 trillion in 2050. And in 2009, it projected that the cost would be $3 trillion instead. In other words, the program’s projected cost doubled in four years.

Nothing the CBO states as fact can be relied on as to any future reality.  Notoriously  all of government has mislead the American people in cost analysis, because they cannot predict what will happen 2 years from now and any assumptions are purely speculation.

The Social Security “trust” fund is in BIG trouble, it’s time we face this fact and figure out what to do.  The Dems want you living in a false reality, because they do not believe the American people can grasp, understand and accept the truth.  It’s time they stop coddling and become stateswomen/men, displaying honest fact based concern for the people they are elected to represent.

On July 6, 2010, the Civil Rights Commission began hearings on the Department of Justice’s decision to all but drop voter intimidation charges against the New Black Panther Party.  The incident in question occurred on Election Day 2008 at a Philadelphia, Pennsylvanian polling place.  The New Black Panther Party claimed they were providing “security” at the polling place.

See the United States Commission on Civil Rights press release here.

The press release offers some background on the incident.

While the You Tube clip below does not validate all charges brought against the New Black Panther Party (NBPP), it does offer some insight in to what occurred at this polling location.

For those unfamiliar with the case of voter intimidation brought against the New Black Panther Party, they were found guilty of voter intimidation.  Department of Justice was then queried regarding penalties which should be assessed and there is where things went very wrong in the Department of Justice (DOJ).  Instead of requesting harsh penalty the  DOJ decided that the facts did not validate the case against the New Black Panther Party and dropped all charges against them, except for a minor stipulation against the billy-club camouflage  dressed member whose penalty barred him from being present at a Philadelphia  polling place for two years.

Now lets hear from the former Department of Justice attorney, Mr J. Christian Adams, turned whistle blower regarding the corruption and hostility which engulfs the DOJ’s Civil Rights and Voting  Divisions .  In my opinion the bravery of Mr. Adam qualifies him as patriot, fighting for justice and the honor of the law.

What will come from this hearing?  Will the DOJ evaluate all cases presented before it equally or will there be separate rules for different citizens?

The 3:00 a.m. Call May Be Coming Soon

Posted by courage On June - 8 - 2010

Obama has apologized for American “arrogance;” from Cairo to Germany to  France to an Al Quire interview, he has continually attempted to shame the United States for standing against tyranny and supporting freedom.  Through his words the United States has been delegated to the status of a child who is hesitant and unsure of the world around her.  The world looks at the leader we elected and questions his motivation, vision and character.  Even long time allies have broken their silence on the policy position of Obama in dealing with the rising threat of Islamic fundamentalism.

From The European Union Times, April 9th, 2010:

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today authored by France’s Directorate-General for External Security (DGSE) and recently “obtained” by the FSB shockingly quotes French President Nicolas Sarkozy [photo top right with Obama] as stating that President Barack Obama is “a  dangerous[ly] aliéné”, which translates into his, Obama, being a “mad lunatic”, or in the American vernacular, “insane”.

According to this report, Sarkozy was “appalled” at Obama’s “vision” of what the World should be under his “guidance” and “amazed” at the American Presidents unwillingness to listen to either “reason” or “logic”.  Sarkozy’s meeting where these impressions of Obama were formed took place nearly a fortnight ago at the White House in Washington D.C., and upon his leaving he “scolded” Obama and the US for not listening closely enough to what the rest of the World has to say.

Apparently, as this report details, the animosity between Sarkozy and Obama arose out of how best the West can deal with the growing threat posed by rising Islamic fundamentalism. Both Sarkozy and his European neighbors had previously been supported in their efforts by the United States in forming an alliance to strengthen the integration of Muslim peoples into their societies, and has including France and Belgium moving to ban the wearing of burqa’s.

Time-lines have been set by the administration for Iran to stop their race to acquire nuclear weapons, at each step the reset button has been hit by the administration giving Iran additional time to achieve their desire to join the nuclear arms club.  The recent United Nations resolution instituing an embargo against Iran this administration was forced to water down the sanctions by China and Russia to where the sanctions are meaningless.  This after 16 months of the world being “enlightened” to the Utopian vision of  a pResident, which is based in fantasy and theory, not the hard reality of insane dictators.

The United Nations countries of Brazil and Turkey voted against sanctions, previously they have voted in favor of efforts used to prevent Iran from reaching nuclear nation status, but thins are changing under this pResident.  Iranian leader Ack-maud-insane-job recently met with the President of Turkey, apparently this meeting has forged new alliances of which the US is not in the mix.

While some may believe that the United States should withdrawal from the global world and become more isolationist, the truth is that allowing countries with nut-job leader’s is a threat to the world.  Make no mistake Israel is not the only country which will be targeted by Iranian strikes, they hate us because of our freedom.  Those that do not believe this fact need to start reading the Koran and pay closer attention to the insidious methods of genocide which filter through Islamic faith.  Look to Europe  and as they welcomed those of Islamic faith to their bosoms, they have come to realize how the faith is an ideology which subverts their laws and advocates Sharia in their society.

Oh yes the 3:00 a.m. call made famous by the Clinton ad during the primary will come true, the catalysis for the call will be a direct result of Obama’s inability to lead and his lack of reality based ideology.  He has lead us down a yellow brick road and the monkeys will be flying from the trees, lets hope he does not vote “present.”

Memorial Day 2010

Posted by courage On May - 31 - 2010

Memorial Day was first celebrated on May 30, 1868, after the Civil war.  When the day was first celebrated it was referred to as Decoration Day.  The honoring of fallen soldiers was marked by placing flowers on their graves.  The original date of May 30th was chosen because it was at this time of year all areas of the country would have flowers in bloom.

The term Memorial Day was declared a national holiday in 1967.  The May 30th date was changed on June 28, 1968 when Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Act which moved three holidays to specific Mondays of months to create three day weekends, with the law taking effect on the federal level in 1971.

Today Memorial Day celebrates all those currently in the Armed Services, Veterans, in addition to our fallen soldiers who have given the most extreme sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy.

In honor of those who serve, have served and have fallen in the line of duty, please reflect a moment on how through their service we have a nation where we have unprecedented freedoms and liberty in the United States.

Undoubtedly the most recognize bugle piece in the world, the haunting and sombering twenty-four notes of taps reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice fellow Americans have given while defending freedom.

For weeks I feel as though we have entered an alternative universe, nightly the news speaks to the grave environmental impact of the Gulf oil rig explosion.  Common people speak of fear as they watch  toxic crude oil invade their state, they worry that the lack of quick and immediate federal response  will create catastrophic damage to the ecosystem they love and  they express concern  for their livelihoods so tied in to the Gulf and then they wonder when will the scope of this massive disaster truly be known.

My heart aches for the people of Louisiana and the devastation this disaster  has placed in their lives. Yesterday I watched the following You Tube clip as Louisianan Representative Charlie Melancom stressed to a House committee the devastation that has struck his beloved state.  My eyes teared, as I this humble servant of the people become overcome with emotion, to the point of not finishing his prepared comments.  Please take the time to watch this American, while the heartfelt emotion may feel uncomfortable it is important to understand the extent of the horror.

Climate Change Legislation on the Horizon

Posted by courage On March - 23 - 2010

After a hard-fought victory on health care reform, President Barack Obama’s allies in Congress are setting their sights on climate change — but some on both sides are already crying foul.Environmentalists hope Obama will seize on new political momentum to push forward climate legislation, though some observers question whether he would seek another divisive vote as November congressional elections approach.

Senator John Kerry, who has spearheaded climate legislation, said that White House officials can now “pour their energy and attention” into the issue after Sunday’s down-to-the-wire vote on expanding health care coverage.

“In the wake of health care’s passage, we have a strong case to make that this can be the next breakthrough legislative fight,” the Massachusetts Democrat argued. “Climate legislation is the single best opportunity we have to create jobs, reduce pollution and stop sending billions overseas for foreign oil from countries that would do us harm,” Kerry said.

“If we sell those arguments we’ve got a winning issue on jobs, on security and on public health. This can happen.”

For anyone who has followed the cap and trade debate this should come as no surprise.  As previously written on this blog, the supporters of Cap and Trade will attempt to cite job creation as an overwhelming support factor for the passage, the truth is Spain (which has been touted as the a model for the United States law) has lost 2.2 jobs for each new “green” job created.  (see here) What piqued my interest was the emphasis on security in Kerry’s statement.  And this is why…

Health Care

Posted by courage On March - 21 - 2010

The last week has been one of frustration, with numerous posts begun only to lay unfinished in my draft box.  The news brought daily insult from the Democrats; they believe the American people to be fools.  Continually reporters are told that once the people see the health care legislation, code for them passing it, we will then understand how it will magically transform our lives.

I have written letters and called elected officials in Washington urging they start the process over, void of the shake-downs, shenanigans and bribes, requesting they taking small steps instead of giant leaps, asking why the payment for doctors is not included in the bill when any reasonable person knows this expense should be included.  Each office refuses to talk specifics about the bill, a memo early in the week from the Speakers office handed out talking points, foremost do NOT talk about specifics… mission accomplished.   I received emails back talking about how wonderful the legislation is and how it will help the country, everything vague, filled with rainbows.
