Bachmann on Marriage

Posted by courage On June - 26 - 2011

Okay here we go.. first allow me to say, I like Representative Michele Bachmann.  Continually I have seen her stand against big government and a return to Constitutional reasoning.  All of which fly in face of her most recent policy position on suggesting a Constitutional amendment which defines marriage as being between a man and woman.  I can’t help but wonder who slipped her socialist Kool-Aid when she wasn’t looking?  Socialist in the sense that her beliefs supersede common sense and  a purist recognition as to what the fundamental concepts of the Constitution are about.

What exactly is the Constitution for?  Well, if you’re Barack Obama it’s chuck full of negative liberties, a.k.a rights granted the America people through our humanity by God.  Which according to the Obama world prevent him from creating the socialist Utopia which in theory may sound all comfy cozy but in the reality hasn’t worked ANYWHERE in the world.  That’s is why he believes it to be  negative.

Now enter Michele Bachmann, given her recent stated policy position, she must believe the Constitution is for constructing society according to her religious beliefs.  Sure she tries to wiggle around it by stating:

…it’s also up to the states to decide whether they permit same-sex marriage.

What Constitutional authority does the federal government have in defining marriage?  Wait Bachmann answers that with..

After all, the family is the fundamental unit of government.

How is the family a fundamental unit of government?  Seriously, isn’t that what aspects of the Tea Party are rallying against; intrusive government in to the very intimate fabrics of our lives?  If Bachmann believes the family and government are intimately tied together then how can she  rationalize her belief  that Obamacare should be repealed?   I mean come on, a healthy family and all should also benefit the government?  Just how exactly are the family and government tied together?  Outside of the abuse of children in the family unit, the government should have NO say as to what the family does.

From Think Oppressive Progressive:

“Given that global warming is unequivocal,” climate scientist Kevin Trenberth cautioned the American Meteorological Society in January of this year, “the null hypothesis should be that all weather events are affected by global warming rather than the inane statements along the lines of ‘of course we cannot attribute any particular weather event to global warming.’”

So one rogue quasi-scientist makes a claim equating the severe weather with climate change and all the left wing lemmings start jumping off the cliff.  Trenberth was one of the lead authors on the UN IPCC Reports which failed to incorporate all analysis and data, skewing the reports conclusion to favor their religious-like mantra of global warming.

Instead of honestly dealing with the avalanche of debt threatening to bury the United States, the Obama administration attempts to persuade Standard’s and Poor to not lower credit rating.  Truly the Chicago thuggery way..

From Fox News:

Even though the White House has publicly downplayed the credit warning issued Monday from a leading agency, Obama administration officials were privately trying in recent weeks to convince Standard & Poor’s not to lower its outlook for U.S. debt from “stable” to “negative,” Fox News has confirmed.

Obama Cedes Commander-In-Chief to “Others”

Posted by courage On March - 23 - 2011

I am beyond words.  We have NO business bombing Libya.  If some of the Arab nations want the fighting between its nut-job leader Gaddafi and opposition forces to end, how about this,  let them do the dirty deed.  And why are we bombing Libya.. humanitarian reasons they say but that flies in the face of decade long genocide that continues in places like Darfur and Sudan to name two.  Or how about just today Syria murdered 6 of its citizens today during a protest.  Will this be the next no-fly zone?

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

Posted by courage On March - 23 - 2011

From Parental Rights:

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, often called the CRC or the UNCRC, is an international convention seeking to establish “civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights [for] children.” After ratifying or acceding to it, nations are bound to the CRC by international law.

Imagine if your national government had the audacity to appoint a “guardian” to monitor your child from birth, charged with the legal responsibility to evaluate your decisions as a parent and armed with the legal authority to “intervene, prevent or rectify” any violations of your child’s rights. Public and private schools alike are policed by the national government, and classes begin with singing about the principles of peace, tolerance, and the United Nations. Your child’s confidential medical records, stored in a nation-wide electronic register from birth until age twenty, can be accessed at any time, without your knowledge, by any physician, teacher, or government social worker in the nation.

Now stop imagining, because for parents in the 193 countries that have ratified the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child, each of these scenarios is true.

Gangster White House

Posted by courage On March - 7 - 2011

During an interview on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” Tea Party Caucus leader Michele Bachmann (R-MN) refused to back down from previous (2009) comments characterizing the Obama administration as a “gangster government.” She may have even doubled down.

“I don’t take back my statement on gangster government,” she told host David Gregory. “I think that there have been actions that have been taken by this government that I think are corrupt, thoroughly corrupt.”

“I believe the actions of this government have been emblematic of ones that have not been based on true American values,” she added, before coming close to doubling down on her previous comments: “I think the president’s actions in the last two years speak for themselves.”

ObamaCare Waivers at 1,040 and Climbing

Posted by courage On March - 6 - 2011

From The Hill:

The number of temporary healthcare reform waivers granted by the Obama administration to organizations climbed to more than 1,000, according to new numbers disclosed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

HHS posted 126 new waivers on Friday, bringing the total to 1,040 organizations that have been granted a one-year exemption from a new coverage requirement included in the healthcare reform law enacted almost a year ago. Waivers have become a hot-button issue for Republicans, eager to expose any vulnerabilities in the reform law.

In order to avoid disruption in the insurance market, the healthcare overhaul gives HHS the power to grant waivers to firms that cannot meet new annual coverage limits in 2011. The waivers have typically been granted to so-called “mini-med” plans that offer limited annual coverage — as low as $2,000 — that would fall short of meeting the new annual coverage floor of $750,000 in 2011.

“We don’t want to take away people’s health insurance before they have some realistic other choices,” HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in an interview with The Hill earlier this year.

And what will those “realistic” choices cost the states in mandated coverage, because that is what Sebelius is talking about.  Lets hear from Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels:

For state governments, the bill presents huge new costs, as we are required to enroll 15 million to 20 million more people in our Medicaid systems. In Indiana, our independent actuaries have pegged the price to state taxpayers at $2.6 billion to $3 billion over the next 10 years. This is a huge burden for our state, and yet another incremental expenditure the law’s authors declined to account for truthfully.

Perhaps worse, the law expects to conscript the states as its agents in its takeover of health care. It assumes that we will set up and operate its new insurance “exchanges” for it, using our current welfare apparatuses to do the numbingly complex work of figuring out who is eligible for its subsidies, how much each person or family is eligible for, redetermining this eligibility regularly, and more. Then, we are supposed to oversee all the insurance plans in the exchanges for compliance with Washington’s dictates about terms and prices.

And who do you think will be paying for the increased cost in state Medicaid?

Think on that….

What Egyptians Really Want and the Ominious Muslim Brotherhood

Posted by courage On February - 11 - 2011

From Investors Business Daily:

Editorial: What Egyptians Really Want

Islamofascism: Romantics in Western media expect “democracy” to flower from the anti-Mubarak rioting in Cairo. But polling shows Egyptians actually seek strict Islamic rule.

According to a major survey conducted last year by the Pew Research Center, adults in Egypt don’t crave Western-style democracy, as pundits have blithely trumpeted throughout coverage of the unrest.

Far from it, the vast majority of them want a larger role for Islam in government. This includes making barbaric punishments, such as stoning adulterers and executing apostates, the law of their country. With the ouster of their secular, pro-American leader, they may get their wish.

Among highlights from the Pew poll:
